| CATCH(Coordinated Approach to Child Health) |
|
After a successful first season, CATCH returns to the After School Program in an effort to promote healthy eating and exercise habits. The goal of CATCH is to affect attitudes and behaviors of youth in areas of nutrition and physical activity. CATCH was designed to work in collaboration with schools and families and is effective because healthy behaviors are reinforced through a coordinated approach, teaching children how to be healthy for a lifetime.

One in three children in the Bronx public schools suffers from obesity. With the incorporation of CATCH as part of our After School Program, Bronx House has begun work towards ending childhood obesity. This program, developed by researchers at the University of California and has been applied in schools and programs across North America. Studies have shown that in programs where CATCH was implemented, improvements were noted in children-™s food and activity behaviors, increased levels of activity were noted and fat content in lunches were reduced. |
